• Medicine

We typically require an honours degree (minimum Upper Second) or overseas equivalent in:

• biomedical science;
• medicine;
• nursing.

Applicants with lower grades or a degree in a different subject, who have relevant professional experience or additional training, are encouraged to apply. Your application will be considered in full by our academic Programme Director.

International students must demonstrate English proficiency through a secure and approved testing system.

We ask for English language proof if you are from non-majority English speaking countries (a list of majority English speaking countries, as defined by the UK Home Office, can be found here) .

Specifically, we require a minimum of:

• IELTS : 6.5 overall with 6.5 or above in each component.
• TOEFL Internet-based: 4.5 overall with 4.5 in each component (1-6 scale) or 90 overall with 22 or above in each component (1-120 scale).

For HEE funded applications only:

• IELTS: 7.0 overall with 7.0 or above in each component.
• TOEFL Internet-based: 5 overall with 5 in each component (1-6 scale) or 100 overall with 25 or above in each component (1-120 scale).
  

Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

Fees for entry in 2027 have not yet been set. For reference, the fees for the academic year beginning September 2026 were as follows:

• Modular (part-time)
  UK students (per annum): £1,400 per 15 credits
  International, including EU, students (per annum): £3,700 per 15 credits

Fees quoted above are fully inclusive of tuition, administration and computational costs.

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application. Funding is available to NHS staff for CPD units.

It is possible to apply for multiple units and combine them for the award of PGCert Genomic Medicine or PGDip Genomic Medicine.

Health Education England (HEE) funding is initially only available for up to four units, but students may apply for further funding once these four units are underway. Further funding will depend on attainment level and availability of funds, which are confirmed by HEE in April of each year.

We consider your full academic history including which undergraduate course units you have taken and the marks obtained. When application numbers are high, even if you have met our minimum entry requirements, we will take into account your marks in relevant undergraduate course units in our final decision making.
